Dubai experience: old city, Part 3

Dopo aver visitato il lato ovest del Dubai Creek (se non lo hai letto vedi QUI), potendo scegliere tra metro  e imbarcazione tipica per attraversare il fiume, ho scelto l'Abra presso l'Abra Station sotto il Bur Dubai Souq. Il biglietto l'ho pagato ben 1 Dirham, l'equivalente di nemmeno 20 centesimi di Euro. Ero l'unica turista ad attraversare con loro, forse  gli altri prendono la metro? Boh.

After visiting the west side of the Dubai Creek (if you have not read see HERE), choosing between metro and typical boat to cross the river, I chose the Abra taken at Abra Station in the Bur Dubai Souq. I paid 1 Dirham, the equivalent of 20 cents Euro. I was the only tourists to cross with them, perhaps others will take the subway? Boh.

Dopo qualche minuto eccomi nel quartiere Deira, decido di fare qualche giro nelle vie secondarie per vedere un pò di vita "non turistica". Sono ripetitiva lo so, ma anche in queste stradine io ero l'unica donna, salvo rarissime eccezioni. Tanto traffico e qualche difficoltà dopo (mi ero persa)  sono arrivata alla Deira Spice Souq, ne più e ne meno di un comune mercatino, che dopo aver visto quelli marocchini, mi ha delusa.

After a few minutes I am in the Deira district, I decided to do a few laps in the streets to see a bit of life "non-touristy". I know I'm repetitive, but even in these streets I was the only woman, with very few exceptions. Both traffic and after some difficulty (I was lost) I came to the Deira Spice Souq, no more and no less than a common market, that after seeing those Moroccans, I was disappointed.

Vado verso l'Heritage House. Costruita nel 1890 e residenza di un ricco mercante di perle. Appartenne allo sceicco Ahmed bin Dalmouk, il cui figlio fondò la vicina Al-Ahmadiya School.

Mi riposo, bevo del thè e riparto quindi per la scuola, proprio dietro l'angolo. 

I go to the Heritage House. Built in 1890 and home of a wealthy merchant of pearls. It belonged to Sheikh Ahmed bin Dalmouk, whose son founded the nearby Al-Ahmadiya School. 

I rest, drink some tea and then allotment for the school, just around the corner.

  Al-Ahmadiya School  è situata in una casa a corte decorata con pannelli in gesso. E' la più antica scuola di Dubai e fu costruita nel 1912. dove gli studenti pagavano poche rupie e lo sceicco aiutava quelli più poveri.

Al-Ahmadiya School is located in a courtyard house decorated with gypsum. It 's the oldest school in Dubai and was built in 1912., Where students paid a few rupees and Sheik helped poorer ones.

Mi avvio quindi verso la Gold Souq, anche questo un susseguirsi di gioiellerie moderne con vetrine kitsch e pacchiane. Anche l'esterno del Souq era pieno di negozi simili. Nulla di eccezionale o che valeva la pena vedere. 

Stanchissima, affamata e accaldata, prendo la metro verde per dirigermi verso luoghi con aria condizionata nella speranza di riprendermi.

I then boot to the Gold Souq, also a succession of modern jewelers with display cases kitsch. Even the outside of the Souq was full of similar stores. Nothing exceptional or that it was worth seeing. 

Tired, hungry and hot, take the green subway and headed for places with air conditioning in the hope to recover.
